"Strike Plate Rail System"
« on: September 16, 2005, 07:06:38 PM »

Is it just me or is this just another geardo gadget?

http://www.urbanadvantage.net/default.htm

If the pistol has a full length guide rod, the likelihood of it going out of battery is greatly lessened when doing muzzle strikes. Of course, on a 1911 or simiilar gun, if you flip the safety on, the slide will stay put unless to nail the bad guy hard enough to break your gun. And should you need to shoot him with muzzle contact, just sqeeze the trigger BEFORE you take off the safety and it will go bang.

...and the hardly ever mentioned issue...

Where do you get a holster this size.
You can always get a "big bag," $19.95 "One-Size-Fits-All" holster, but what if you require rentention fetaures?

If they sold one on this page I didn't see it, but folks just seem to forget about the holster.

Hey,

You stole my thunder on this one.....You can't find a secure hoster...

But, the idea of the plate to keep the gun from going out of battery is sound.   I had the opportunity to shoot with a "battering plate" on a 1911 and it worked fine.....but.....holsters and rail system become a problem.

I'm waiting for the technology to get better or for the gun manufacturer's to get on boad with an entended lower frame with this type of battery plate.

I would classify the IDEA as a geardo gadget -- but I would the product that I saw on the link page.
