A very good friend of mine required that his daughter complete her black belt in kali before dating...

  I teach my son and daughter stick and empty hand drills.  Both drills can be converted to knife with some minor adjustments.  They are 8 & 7 respectively.  They've been working focus pads and some light sparring with gear.  Everything seems to be going well with them.  They are not bullying or getting into scraps at school.  I love the fact that the attributes they are learning now will benefit them when I introduce the blades.  That is all dependant on their maturity levels, as was stated earlier in this thread.  Combatives is a necessary part of growing up in a post 9/11 world.
