Check this link out for a training blade that give you an electric shock when you simulate stabs and slashes.  www.shocknife.com

Love the idea.

But you know, it hurts more with your electric knife than to be really cut or even stabbed most times. Adrenaline or otherwise, most folks don't know that have been cut or stabbed right away. With the electric knife they get stung. And really, stunned  it seems. Against a real knife they may fight right on. The shock knife looks like it hurts WAAY, way more than a real knife usually would.

The electric knife shock goes through clothes. The real knife may or may not. ETC..and all that stuff you guys have thought of too.

Interesting idea though.
And it has a "fear" learning factor.
Mixes well with gun training if backing away and shooting is an option.

BUT as you know, you need really soft knives, rubber knives and metal knives to complete the training package and training progressions.

$400.00!!! Screw that!!!

Use a tazer or cattle prod if you guys want to go around shocking the crap out of each other!

I think "NO-LIE Blades" are a much better option.

or you could just glue a piece of felt on the "cutting" edge of your blade and call it good... with a little lipstick on the felt.

I just have never seen the need to have a marker knife. To me, they are a gimmick. I just don't think training partners despute contact, even in dueling practice. Even when we do Killshot tourneys, we never seem to need a marker knife to decide who hit who and where.

I understand that sales of these marker knives (from some of the makers) are just not that whopping, so I think many feel that way. A maker sent me samples to sell and it took about 8 months to get rid of 6 of them. Week after week no one bought them, even overseas. Their true value was that they are soft, not markers.

Lots of folks don't like their shirts getting all lipsticked up, too. In a few minutes, the shirts get so marked up, you can't distinguish the last slash from the first. Anyway, these marker knives never interested me. I am not alone and I would suggest anyone thinking about making and selling them should really think twice.

The electric knife is $400? Well, that kills that!

I agree, I've been punctured before with a hole wide enough to drop a quarter in and it didn't feel one third as bad as it looked. It was a sharp force puncture so the trauma was even worse than if the object was sharp and pointed for easier entry into muscle tissue. The healing process days later is what hurt.

There's lots more training modifiers that work closer to reality than a 400 dollar gimmick.

It isn't how many times one gets cut anyway, it's WHERE one gets stabbed or slashed.

Even though it's $400, I was thinking it still might be fun to buy one. I'd walk around the mall and poke people in the ass with it. Tell me that's not a good time right there!! ;D

This might be a cheaper option: http://www.redhillgeneralstore.com/A67232.htm

I thought the shocknife was a novel idea...until I saw the price.  Hell, if you want to train with knives, you need at least 2 and $700 just ain't in the budget this year.  As far as marking blades go...I wouldn't waste the $ there either.  If your training partner isn't being honest about being hit with the blade, hit him harder!

I have to agree with Hoch that so many of these 'Good Ideas' for electric and marker blades tend to be just that.  Good ideas with some limited use.  I've tried one brand of the marker blades that is promoted by one of the Known knifemen in the business.  They are o.k. for some 'De-Fanging the Snake' work but they just don't 'get it all done' for me.  I know the padded knives I use  have some draw backs but for me they provide a good balance between safety and the rigid feel of a real blade.  I tend to make all my own padded blades to insure the quality control is there.  Wood, Aluminum, and padded pretty much fill the need for me and my students.  James Loriega does some work with real steel that has the edge and piont reduced. I've got a couple of knives that I've done this too, but there use is very limited.

I hear this thing is adjustable to lower levels to where it doesnt hurt as much but enough to get you going.
You have to watch a neck shot with one of these.
