PAC dvds
« on: November 12, 2004, 05:02:00 AM »

Hello,

I was wondering how many here have seen the PAC dvds. I have seen other tapes covering stick, knife work. I also have seen several of hocks knifes tapes. Wondering your thoughts on the dvds..the good and bad?

Thanks

They are great!
Ahh..that's me talking!

But remember that the PAC DVDs only cover the add-ons
Double weapons and "Make the Connection Series"

So...The Complete level 4 PAC course , for example, is gathered through...

Training Mission 4 DVD Set
   hand 4
   stick 4
   knife 4
(and gun 4 but gun is not part of the PAc course)

PAC 4 DVD
Double weapons 4 (stick and knife, double sticks)
Make the connection 4 (a common thread that connects hands, sticks, knives)

Hey Nightronin

If you are interested in no-nonsense Archipelago Double Stick, Stick & Knife and/or Double Knife then these are the DVDs for you.  This is stuff you can actually learn and use straight away!  For the brass tacks get the Training Mission Series.

Cheers

Check e'm out.

I like all the connection series as it extrapolates all the material from the old Filipino Combatives curriculum and brings it all home for all the weapons.  Its awesome!

The PAC dvd's along with the Training Mission DVD's will give you good solid combat ready material.  It is easy to digest, easier than many I have seen, and you can use it quickly.  Be sure to add your footwork into it as soon as possible to make it even more effective!  Also, check out some of the knife DVD's, they support and add even more to the other material!

The PAC program and material is the most solid foundational FMA / Pacific island, course material out there on the market. There are "prettier" videos out there, but none better.

From swinging a stick on the clock angles to more advanced single and double stick drills all the way to butt thumpin combat scenarios.. Good stuff.

Jeff,
Extraplolates... I am impressed... :-)

I noticed that on the information page for the PAC course, it outlines 10 levels for the course.  However, there are only 5 PAC DVDs on the shopsite.  Am I correct in thinking that there are more on the way?  I feel the need to ask since you don't see the black belt test done before the preceding levels anywhere else on the site.  Thank you.

Yup, 5, 6,7,8,9 need to be filmed.

But I think PAC 7 will be done by the end of the week, leaving 5,6,8,9.

They just contain:
Unlocking Sinawali (double sticks and espada Y Daga)
Make the Connection series (how a tactic works through hand, stick, knife, double stick, double knife connection)

I can only do and make so much, so fast, with care.
The books are worse. Thousands of photos. Text to be written and edited. TIME. I assume by 2007 it will all be done. 10 Training Mission books. 10 Training Mission DVDs. 10 PAC DVDs. Then I will start my rock band.

With my ability, that might not be necessary.   ;D  BTW, I got the PAC level 1 a short while ago.  Good stuff, if not very technically challenging.  I do like learning new drills, it gives me a greater variety since I am usually training by myself.  I don't consider myself a museum curator in that aspect...yet.

allow me to give my opinion as a newbie

I just bought PAC1 and Training mission1 about a month ago
I have watched all the dvds several times. Packed with material!
I definitely got my money's worth
I think I need to watch with a notebook and take notes
for my training sessions, it's that much material
as a Wing Chun practicioner I enjoyed the trapping sequences
all the make the connection material is excellent

if you just want the PAC stuff you'll be happy
if you get PAC plus TM you'll be very happy

it's my intention to train for rank in the PAC course
I'm actually waiting for delivery of two pair of sticks as I type this
I think the skill sets developed in the PAC course
will enhance my Aikido & my Wing Chun
