Spartan Training
« on: February 23, 2006, 06:51:46 PM »

I think this trainer, Mark Twight, is actually a mountain climber, but I think the training could be applied to a combat regime.

If that link doesn't work check out Yahoo Movies, "300" video journal #3.
Whether or not the Spartans trained like this is beside the point, this training looks pretty explosive.

Looks like it has promise. Has anyone had any extended experience with crossfit?

You can see mcuh more detailed workout clips relating to crossfit trainer Mark Twight (you're right he is a world reknown mountain climber and also certified crossfit coach) at GymJones.com

The training focuses on hardcore plyometrics mixed with resistance training and is aimed at all-round fitness. No fancy people in spandex and weight gloves here!

It's not a new concept but has been re-organised and is delivered in a true no nonsense warrior way.

The gym looks very Spartan also. I love it.

Enjoy,

Ciao,

Ed

Hock recommended to me long ago - Gates of Fire - historical fiction based on this very thing.  Superb book highly recommend it!  By Steven Pressfield.
