Hock’s entire gun course encapsulates all basic skills:

Gun Mechanics & Quick Draws
Searching Buildings, rooms, etc.
Capture Arrest & Contain
Handgun Disarms/Long Gun Disarms & Retentions
Shoot, Move & Cover
Emergency Medical for Hostile Environments
Live Weapons Training at the Range
Scenarios, Scenarios and more Scenarios

Like all of Hock’s courses, don’t limit yourself or your students to a limiting learning structure.  Don’t be afraid to bob back and forth between the different modules.  Everything listed here is interdependent.

Cheers

What's basic to someone is advanced to someone else!   It's not a fair question.  It depends on your prior experience.

These are considered advanced skills to many in the gun/combatives field.

C'mon, guys...I'm not asking about 'basic gun skills'; this is a gun. these are bullets... ;)

What do you consider to be important skills for someone who carries a gun for self defense?

I listed some topics that  I think might be important for somebody with a concealed gun permit to have.

What do you think they ought to know? Or, another way, what skills do you practice with your handguns?
