So who do you think is going to win?

I have my money on Royce (Hoyce) Gracie.
Any one?

I'm cheering for Matt Hughes.....

I only wish that it was a best of seven series....anyone can get caught in a fight.

I Royce wins, you'll never hear the end of it from the BJJ crowd.    ::)

I am cheering for Hughes as well. Royce is dangerous though and if Matt forgets that he could be in trouble. If Hughes wins though you will never stop hearing from the anti-BJJ crowd. And so it goes, round and round.   No Pro Combat sport has a best of 7 or 3 or whatever. Intersting idea though.

I saw a preview last night and a piece on how Gracie is just working his ass off with boxing skills.

Not exactly the Gracie BJJ we first saw in 1990, or I practiced in the 1980s. BJJ has had to evolve and change to face the evolving ground punchers and kickers. back then, punching and kicking was a token move to get to tackle.

When was the last time somebody saw a figure-four/key lock in one of these cage-things? In a precentage that is actually used successfully?

Gracie is kind of a genetic freak. And he has done this damn near since childbirth. He, (not the majority of us) can make a lot work that wouldn't for the rest of us. Time and grade. Time and grade.

I know of Matt Hughes. Corn-fed boy. I do not know if he is the same genetic cat as Gracie.

I would like to see Hughes win. More of a pre-Gracie, old-school, ground-pounder.

A win by Gracie will only further confuse the world of martial arts, already a partison, schzophrenic mess as it is.

Meanwhile, Gracie is working his ass off punching and kicking....

Go Hughes. I hope Hughes punches and knees the shit out of Royce. It would be awesome if Hughes could submit him but I dont know if thats even possible against a Gracie. They are very good at what they do, but I hope Hughes wins big.  ;D

I think it can really go eaither way, I think Hughes has an edge for few reasons.
He is under less pressure to win then gracie, gracie has his whole lifes work on the line.
Gracie is cross training and I think this will lead to him attempting to counter Matts standup game which is a very bad idea. Gracie really needs to focus on getting Matt to the ground and choking him.
Finally Hughes is really strong and fast, gracie will have a hard time dealing with him in that respect.
If Gracie can stay calm, keep it on the ground and work with Matts strength then I think Gracie could win.

I like both. But I'd pick Hughes since he has the edge in strength, takedowns, and striking (stronger on the ground and pound), which his standup strikes has improved. Royce, though, has the edge in submissions and also knows how to work from the guard. And if Hughes gets caught by Royce or his plan screws up, just like his fight against BJ Penn, it could all be over.

Royce is a grappler and so is Hughs.
Royce is taller and heaveir and not as strong. Poyce is more of a middle Weight and Welter weight stops at 170 so theres no loss to hughs when it comes to the belt.

Royce wont win if I have my pradictions right, he has skill but can he take a wrestling slam? or fists to his face. Of cource Royce is the most technical submission specialist the UFC will have in a long time.

Of course he can, it wouldn't be the first time someone tried to punch him. Look at his fight with Kimo, Royce took many shots to the face and head and Kimo outweight gracie by quit a bit.
I still give the edge to Hughes but Gracie if gracie can keep it on the ground I think Hughes maybe surprised at what occurs.

WIMP............you are so wrapped around that finger. ;D

Hughes, all the way. So the BJJ crowd does not get a bigger head. Of course then you have the MMA crowd with the big heads.

I just look foward to a great fight that will probably suprise us all.........Double knock out!..........could happen

I think it really can go either way, if Royce does the smart thing and really works to win and doesn't try to stand toe to toe or lay on his back doing nothing, but I doubt he'd do that. I kind of want Royce to win because I think it would surprise a lot of people and would make for a more exciting fight.

My ideal fight would be full 5 rounds of action and mid 5th round Matt hughes wins by Ground and pound. I think that would be the most exciting.
