Just goes to show you, when the girl on top didn't know the other girl had a knife (which it didn't seem she did till the guy came up to see what she had in her hand) she had no prob beating her down. The girl on bottom was kept off balance and was not able to get any real slashing or puncturing done, plus the girl on top had jeans on. If the blade was not really sharp it didn't really penetrate too well.
Perhaps if she had flashed the knife and let the other girl see she was armed then things may have gone differently. Attacker may have let go, backed off and created space. But, in the melle of the fight she smothered the girl and wouldn't let up. I wish "you can't do that" anti-knife fighting proponents would watch this and footage like it so they can see how this stuff really goes. Like Hock says, "I pity the poor knife instructor!"

I call this the "Taking candy from a baby" Drill: A has a soft training knife, B comes in hard and fast hands and arms out trying to smother A's knife arm and grab it no matter what A does. B should end up so close applying pressure that A almost goes over. Watch how hard it is to slash B with much effective once B passes the "Goldilocks Zone" (not too far out, not too close, just right for optimal cutting). I am sure most of you guys have done this before and call the drill something else but it is good for new folks to do. I call it taking candy from a baby because if you have kids and have ever tried taking candy from them, it looks a lot like this. Just my .02
