The guy is attacking Systema in slow motion!
Of course it works! The knucklehead!

Not much pressure to that pressure testing.

Nope.  It didn't answer my questions.

Where's the crash?

Where's the reality?

Where's the worst case scenario?

What a crock of shit!

I have trained with some of these guys.
I didn't drink the cool-aide.

Some years ago I went to a Dillman seminar.
He was walking around knocking people out with 1 shot.
Then my buddy volunteered me to hit next.

Dillman hit me 3 times clean on the jaw.
I didn't move. I did feel a tingle.

One thing I know that if one of my students hit me 3 clean times on the jaw I'm going down.

WOW.. I'm surprised, Gannon is a RBSD guy closely related to Thompson’s group and he was a bouncer and was pretty good in my opinion. Then to see him attacking at half speed and claiming the shit works is kind of odd to me.

I have trained with Systema guys and I understand their methods and they work very well in their environment however in reality with real power, speed, energy, intent it doesn't work very well.

This is shocking it almost makes me want to go and make my own systema the questions answered video... I think I would have more powerful questions then he did.

Ritchie is pretty worthy source and Im quite surprised...
I think he has met Hubbard in person not sure....

I am unimpressed by Systema, and have "pressure tested" the knife defence against one of the top British exponents.  We stopped when I actually cut him with his own training knife.  I don't mean just symbolically cut him.  I'd already done that almost at will, with a hit rate of at least 1 out of 2 attempts.  I mean actually cut him with it.

I felt bad, but it was he who insisted on training with it, as a rubber knife wouldn't provide him with the right energy or something.

Anyway, I spoke to Richie about this clip today.  It is not my pace to divulge the conversation.  I disagreed with what he said on the clip, but I have no disagreement with what he said to me in person.

WTF!?!?  All I have to say is, I wish I could get paid just to punch someone over and over again.  So, if anyone out there needs practice getting hit, let me know.

Hi Mario

I haven't met this guy and don't know much about him.  I enjoyed the clips from Bob Spour which is from the same production team.  The Systema thing is weird, but it seems he is trying to build a catalouge to appeal to a wide audience.

Ciao

While I was in another country a few years back, I was stuck between seminar's and had access to piles of Russian Martial arts videos, from Russia, in Russian. Then some translated, then the usual the USA versions. This included home grown Systema and USA/Euro versions of Sytema. Some of this footage was seminar footage from Russia. I saw several two day Systema seminars filmed in Russia.

I watched them and have some conclusions

1) The best parts of them are found in the best parts of other systems. This I have found to be universally true with all martial arts and why I now can longer jump both feet in any program.

2) Just behind the next curtain of a lot of Systema is a lot of voodoo, magic crap. Not unlike many Silats and well, hell, psychic knock-out stuff found here. Snake-oil salesmen material! This immediately turns me off.

3) Some of it is really...well...slinkly...the defenders are slinky, that ATTACKERS ARE SLINKY. Myth of the duel...slinky meets and fights slinky. Inside all of this slinky-ness, I collected just a handful of practical deflections I thought had good potential. But the overall slinky-ness was a big turn-off for me.

4) Russian Sambo, not Systema looks a lot like hard-core ju-jitsu, and good quality ninjitsu. Ninjitsu will always be tainted by the turtles and kids-attraction sell-power.

5) Where its good, its good, where its bad it sucks. My "okay" meter needle is on the negative side. (this is where I begin to hear the classic line - "Poor Hoch, if you would just train with ______ and stay long enough, you'd discover the truth."

I a registered, jaded practicalist. I'll never understand the fad hoopla of anything.
Factored into the system-selection process, people ponder these systems because of the fad, flavor, look or appeal. All martial arts are this way, Japanese, Indo, FMA, Isreali. Everone has their own zoot suit, hairdo and lingo and well...wake me when its over.

When you become jaded like me, you are just hunting around from another tactic, and could give two shits and a balloon where it comes from.
