Not much suprises me anymore...  What a load of crap!  I work with a fellow Corpsman that was a student at Columbine and was there the day the shooting went down.  I'll run this by him tomorow and find out what he thinks...  Damn shame.  It's all too often that we let those that paid the ultimate sacrifice go unrecognized - why get in the way of something like this.  The same kids they worry about are probably at home playing some graphic violence video game right now.    ??? >:(

I agree that these same kids are will be exposed to far worse through television and video games. A tribute of this type should  enlighten children to the importance of freedom and the price that is paid for it.

I wonder if the Littleton Police Department still carry exposed weapons ?
I wonder if they allow the Military to March and carry arms?
I wonder if they have a National Guard Unit?
I wonder if they allow Hunting with rifles?
I wonder if they have excluded all violence on the TV,in the Movies and on videos and games that show a use of weapons?
I wonder if they sensor footage of Iraq and Afghanistan?

Was Columbine high school torn down to remove the vision of the tragic event,as the amish did after the tragedy in their school?

Does it take a weapon in the arms of a US Military Troop to cause kids to remember and think of violence and the tragedy of their town?
Perhaps their Columbine Circle of remeberance will cause nightmares, but that memorial is fine.

We are falling into a time when heroes are Rap stars and Sport stars,we no longer know the names of men who have done Heroic deeds they are to be forgotten as their  rememberance shows a trend to violence.
(I am glad sport stars and rappers do not kill, espouse violence and or use drugs, lol)

Thankfully the town has said the staue will be placed where designated and it will be as depicted and cast.

Absolutely agree gents...  Thanks for the post Paratrooper!

These are the parents who'll let their children play 6 hours or all night 'kill 'em all' video games and when something of dignity & honor comes along they'll piss all over it saying its replete with violence.  They need to have their mouths washed out with soap and get a swift kick in the arse.

OK, I took a minute today to run this by "Doc" Jackson (an OIF Veteran Corpsman).  As I wrote yesterday, this is a co-worker of mine and he was a student that was present during the Columbine shootings.  When I mentioned the SEAL statue he new what I was talking about.  He is happy about the statue and looks forward to seeing it when he goes home.  He says its a great idea and he believes it is something that the kids growing up will look at/to for motivation and inspiration.  "A Hero from our home town".  He looks forward to going home and taking a run to the statue.  Doc said, "it's kinda like the Rocky statue in the movie that all the kids can pass by or take a run by"  "It will give the kids hope and inspire them to be their best".  When I told him about the article refered to here, he said pretty much the same thing we all have said.  Doc said, "The same kids that they are talking about are probably at home watching R rated movies right now"  He thought it was stupid to not support the statue.  "Without things like this statue, it is all too easy for people to forget".

End of discussion

Doc Jackson is in his early 20's and has deployed once to Iraq and is scheduled to return to the Sand Box again this Fall.
