remembering the 2 handed opening
« on: June 02, 2007, 05:35:59 AM »

Hey guys,
an observation.
I found myself opening my super duper trusty benchmade with super one hand action, and guess what; i used 2 hands!!!
i'd never noticed doing that before.  Then, i realized, i've been travelliing outside the country, and had to buy a cheapo knife at a convenience store.  No fancy tactical additions, just a pocket knife.  I thought, ok, if i had had to use that knife to save my life, would i have had the habit of opening it?
i think not.  Only now do i have that 'old' habit again.  sometimes, it's in the details.

Wow.  That's nuts.  I almost forgot that it used to take 2 hands to open a folder.  Everything's got a "thumb" screw or hole for 1 handed opening now or they catch on your pocket, so the blades out as it comes out of your pocket.  I completly forgot about the old time little slit in the side of the blade for your finger nail!  I'll have to keep that in mind next time I travel.
