Sacrface

You know, I just gotta say this. I was very impressed with harsh reality lessons I saw in Scarface Four Life-the DVD just to the left of this writing. I had to deal with some questionable characters to get it (if you see the documentary, you'll see what I mean-it is an underground production)

But it is so important to own and show in your classes! MAN! If you don't see this before you train or teach a knife session again, well...it almost criminal...

Hey!  I just got and watched the Scarface vid.  Talk about good material next time I teach prison guards or cops!  I have a buddy who is a police trainer at the local academy and I am going to try to get it to him for him to see also.
The things that disgusted me the most is how they made these losers out to be heros, and how they had the gall to make the comparison with slavery.  You go to prison because you did something evil or stupid, you become a slave simply because of identity associated to ethnicity, religion, or you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.  I wondered if these guys had actually studied their history, then I heard the film makers talk, and that answered that.

Thanks Hock for making these vids available!!!!

P.S. I got a good dvd recently from a local store that is nothing but street fights caught on tape.  I remember Hock used to offer one.  I got it so my students could see what real violence is like and can get their eyes opened.

Is it Ultimate Street Brawls?
It became more and more difficult to get becaue the original makers were once sued. But it was not supposed to go to DVD. I would be interested in knowing if USB made the leap to DVD.

I'll find out the name and who put it out.  It is cheaply made, and it is the only one that I found that did not have scenes of nude women dancing around between the fights.

The name of the DVD is Fighting Mad, and it was produced by 4 Leaf Entertainment in 2002.

Just got my copy of Scarface 4 Life.  For those of you that want a little eye opener to what you just may face in a criminal attack- watch this DVD!  It mostly has random interviews with ex-cons who are telling stories of when they were inside Ryker’s Island.  What was cool to me was the way they had a drum & bass groove playing in the background while these cons were reminiscing.  Their dialog started to sound like a rap over the music.  I love listening to it- very colourful!  The DVD also has interviews with corrections officers and a little bit of footage where you see the prisoners in various fights.

I also thought it was a cheap shot that the director of this project tried to slant the whole issue on a white vs. black thing.  I am sure that there is a boatload of white guys serving time, but they present this project as only Latinos and Blacks are in there.  The whole slave related issue was tired and didn’t relate at all to the real issue at hand.  Maybe the only way they could fund the project was to turn it into a Human Rights campaign, who knows?

Anyway all in all it’s an educational watch for most, especially middle class people who haven’t been exposed to these types before.  When I first got it I thought I would be more shocked than I was, but I guess that shows all the dodgy people I have come in contact with over the years.

Ciao
