Tackett IKFs Instructor of the Year 2010
« on: December 11, 2009, 01:54:27 PM »

I guess the word is out that I made "Inside Kune Fu" magazine's Instructor of the year. Last Wed night in my garage we had about 10 students. I have to have the record for the least students of any Hall Of Fame instructor.

Well, "Congrats" on both achievements!

I guess "quality" won out over "quantity" for a change.

You know when I retired, my first seminar as a "free (or unemployed) man, Tom Barnhart and I did a seminar in Buffalo, New York. Winter 1997. Had 67 people there. I thought I had...ARRIVED..on the scene. A big shot.

We got back to Texas and I went to teach at my regular Tuesday night class at Gold's Gym. 4 people.

As someone (who?) once said..."You're never a prophet in your own home town."  I thinks its a biblical thing?

Matthew 13:57 (NKJV)
So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house."

You would be correct, O Enlightened Zen Master.

Mathew...

...and here I thought it was Matt Dillion telling Festus something important on Gunsmoke.

I can easily imagine a scene from Gunsmoke where Matt Dillon says to Festus, while they're in the marshall's office, "Well, Festus, I don't quite understand it myself, but the Good Book says...".

They could do that on TV back then. ;)

"Why shoot, I tweren't talken about being no kind of prophet." - Festus

"Are you two through jacken' your jaws and ready to a get a beer at the Long Branch." - Doc Adams.

"If yer' a buyen'! "What'll we drink to?"" - Festus

"Well how about we drink to Tim Tackett getten' that reward?" - Doc Adams
