Achilles Tendon Sprain
« on: March 04, 2008, 01:18:45 PM »

Does anyone know good stretches or remedy's for a sprained Achilles tendon? Mine has been bothering me about a month or so and I seem to have a problem getting it to heal.

I am currently wearing a support brace, but it only slightly helps.

Any info would help.

Thanks

Sorry about the injury.  Achilles tendon strains can take some time to heal.  You basically want to stretch the calf muscles which attach to the Achilles tendon ergo the more relaxed they are the less the pull on the tendon.   A basic lunge(think fencing or a front stance) type stretch will help immensely.
The calf muscle is made up of two muscles and because of their origin benefit from slightly different stretches. i.e knee bent and straight(see images below). good luck man.

Back Knee Straight.

I find that duct taping a cold Schlitz to each side of the injured area helps a great deal. Plus after you've frozen your injured area, you can finish off the 2 Schlitz. EAither way, you should feel better. ::)

"Davesdawg3" doesn't drink alcohol. So, when you're finished icing down your injury with the Shlitz, Tank, I'll drink the beer. This way, we'll both feel better about your injury.

See! I can be thoughtful on occasion. As long as there's something in it for me! ;)

I'll even supply the duct tape if you supply the Shlitz.
See! I did it again!

Can we buy Schlitz in Mississippi??? I'm not sure, maybe have to go with some cheap beer! :) Do you think some Colt 45 would do it??

Since you brought up the Colt 45, I've been wondering...

don't they shoot horses when they have this kind of injury?

Since you're more akin to a pachyderm, this might not apply, but it's something to think about. ;D

Seriously, we need to add these stretches to our routine and see if we can't get you healed up!
Rasdj,
Thanks for the info!

DD3-this might work-completely stop training for a few  days-do  not pull stretch or agravate the strained ligement-asprin-ankle wrap (loosly) boots that would give support-and as all say shiltz beer or anything close- (i like vodka on ice with blackberry chaser)
-massage also  helps but dont have it done to point it hurts-their is your home medical thoughts from whitewolf- ;D ;D

Here is some more for the healing process-first look at internet subject is-Runner Heel Pain-it advises steps to  take to correct this injury/i was going to recommend some steps to  take and they say the same-anyway-the foot takes a tremendous amount of weight all the time so rest is essential-also put balls of  feet on a step and stretch easily  by going up and down-dont over do  it-follow the advise of he information put out on the blog i  mentioned-hope it goes away soon-seya  whitewolf

Yea, all the stretching is working. The only problem is I can't stop training right now. Hopefully after this weekend, I'll be able to take a rest for a week or so. I think it'll heal then.

This injury really sucks!

By the way Arnold, the 2 Schlitz beers tied to my ankle did not work. I am here to tell you, doing a front snap kick with those things tied to your foot really hurts your training partner ;) Almost acts like brass knuckles ;D

Nah. It didn't hurt that bad...next time I'll wait until we're done training and THEN I'll drink the Schlitz.
Actually, the technique I was using had some potential; I think I'll put it on UTube and try advancing it on my own. "Dawg's Biting Technique For Schlitz Encased Ankles". I'll come up with some catchy acronym (FANG, maybe?) and promote it as an unbeatable system derived from secret knowledge obtained from the dog-like extraterrestrials that abducted me in my youth.
Who knows?

Now you know that even with extra-terrestrials involved, your martail system would still not stand up to Captain insaneO's premium skill level. Don't really like the acronym FANG though. Reminds me too much of a woman I was knew :'(
