weaponology - rangers
« on: April 23, 2008, 01:38:05 PM »

I saw an interesting special on one of the cable military channels
about the origin - purpose - and training of the us army rangers
evidently rangers are no joke!
they had a combat instructor named Tony Mayo showing
CQC tactics, never heard of him before
but he seemed to know what he was doing
cool stuff

Tony Mayo is a Wannabee Military operator who shows up at events in full camo uniform with various unit insignia and Various Spec Ops Insignia.
He is a retired NYPD officer who is a martial artist with several Black Belts ,he runs a school in Florida and has a couple Spec Ops people,he says , who train with him.

The show was Good, even the Materials Tony showed were good ,but it was misinformation in allowing viewers to think he was a Former Ranger,Former Spec Operator.

Here is his website:

http://www.eliteforceselfdefense.com/

Notice NO Mention of Special Operations/Rangers /SF?
Go to his gallery page, military pics, and see him in various uniforms, insignia ,and rank.(poser)

I ran into him several years ago at the Action Martial arts Hall of Fame in Atlantic City.
He was in Desert Cammo with Ranger Beret,Sgt/Major Rank,Jump wings Combat Infantry Badge,SF Insignia, scuba badge,Pathfinder the whole works.
He was given camera access to everything as they thought,I guess, that he was active military and he was saying he was.

I went over and started talking to him and he rattled off a load of stuff and units he said he had been in.
( 75th Rangers,7th Special Forces to name a few)

I asked him his MOSD/Job Description in SF he said he was reluctant to say.
I asked if he knew several people I know who were also in the 75th Rangers and ARE STILL in the 7th Special Forces Group,he had never heard of any of them, which is strange as you cross paths with a load of people especially in your group.

I then told him I thought he was a poser and we parted ways.

Later he was talking to some people I know ,retired NYPD /Martial arts Masters, and they told me he was retired NYPD Only and he liked to Dress up,LOL.

That is the story of Tony Mayo,Military dress up artist.
His materials are fairly realistic,
though again
the show allowed him to mislead viewers into thinking he was a former Ranger, which adds a sense of Truth to his false credibility .

seems like a half-way decent martial artist
guess he couldnt resist the darkside
too bad
from what I am reading on the forum
there seems to be a lot of this type of thing going on
I'm sure this gets real military folk pissed off
