Congrats to my boy.
« on: May 17, 2008, 09:20:34 PM »

Just wanted to give a shout out to my oldest son Josh. He graduated yesterday from U.T. Austin with his B.S. in Civil Engineering. Pulled it all off in 4 years, right according to plan.

Also he was hired 6 months prior to graduation by a large engineering firm Hensel / Phelps for about $60k a year right out of school. He will begin his journey into the way of the world in mid June..

He will be working up in Arlington Tx, so that will give me another excuse to come spend some mat time with the Dallas crew. Some of you got the chance to meet him at the multiple opponent seminar a year or so ago at Rawhides.

Once he gets settled I will have him seek out Rawhide & Barnhart so he can continue his weekly "ass whuppins". I trust you guys will keep him in line for me.. LOL..

Just my little horn toot for the weekend...  ;D

Outstanding! Tell him, "WELL DONE", from his KajuPit Ohana.

I know you are PROUD & RELIEVED, to see the boy become the man, and the man become a someone to be praised for his hard work and commitment.

Im at a loss for words my Brother.

I look to follow your example in many ways.

God Bless Bro!

Tell him congrats from the lead psycho of the Short Bus Committee. I'm sure that both Rawhide and myself would be more than happy to take him deeper into the can of "ass whuppin"

CONGRATS!!!!!

Anyone who survives an engineering degree deserves a medal IMO.

I made it exactly 1 year in the Mech Eng curriculum at Akron U before I thought - geez, programming computers has got to be easier than this.

Tell Josh he did great! It took me 5 years to get my BS in Engineering and my first Job at Edwards AFB paid only 21K.  ;D

Just don't tell the young ladies in the clubs your an engineer - the stereotypes are not generally positive (either total geek or the movie Falling Down).

Congratulations on degree and great job. Having that job lined up 6 months out makes it so worth while. Tell him to take his PE exam if he hasn't already.

rutleddc,
I used to have a pick up line I used very successfully that when asked by the hotties what I did/study I would say "I'm a professional dork" (I earned my EE in 4 years). I had a few lines that I used to follow it up but the panties hit the ground like butta. Hot chicks don't expect you to admit your dork and they are blown away when you say you are a professional dork. About the time you say the word engineer to a girl you start sounding like the Charlie Brown school teacher and their eyes glaze over.

ee4uandme,

Your right of course - if only I knew it at the time. :'(

When I was 21 I looked like I was 16, which was a minus. But looking younger than you are is a big plus now that I turned 50!
