UA at the Academy
« on: June 02, 2009, 05:41:37 PM »

Spent some time last week and today working with some of the other recruit officers on some Force Necessary methods.  They are all impressed with the relative ease (simple but not TOO simple) and directness of the curriculum.  Spent about 45 minutes doing level 1 and got some great feed back on the Statue drill for finger strikes and and my little "invention" for finger cranks - the finger crank statue.  A little painful but a great teaching method for people to learn the cranks well.  The groin kick with push-pull TD went over superbly.  So thanks Hock, once again, for the great info.  There's too much junk out there to mention!

Sure!

I use the Statue drill with the fingers spread and the hands at various clock positions.  I use the 12:00 - 3:00 - 6:00 & 9:00 positions as well as the fingers pointed at the trainee (for times when the chest poke happens) and let the the trainee grab 2 fingers with each hand like this:  pinkie & ring finger, middle & forefinger, thumb.  It comes down to 3 grabs per hand for the trainee - a total of 6. All I look for here is a posture change of the trainer to show that the finger crank is working - otherwise the trainee has to continue until he gets a physical response from the 'statue'...
