Thoought I would pass this information on as it is very important for anyone on the forum
While shoping today I found a magazine on the shelf called Men's health. There are some very pertinent articles in side-two of which ill mention is case you all want to read it.
First one is titled "A legacy of Fitness" it deals with the Gracie way of life and discusses health/nutrition and fitness for all ages. (Please forget your feeling of BJJ)
The second article is titled" Nourish your muscles" and deals with Sarcopenia (where the muscles shrink with age)-this gives details on conbating this a one gets older and how to stay strong=what was interesting to me is i have been following both articles patterns over the years and although I am not a extremely strongman I am hiting 70 and still can exersise/weight lift /and participate in various MMA programs.
In addition the magazine had a author who mentioned that people who do just do arobic type exerises are not as strong as people who mix in weight type lifting.
Ones goal should be to be as fit and able as the eldest Gracie who is in his 90's (again forget your feelings about BJJ) when you reach that age.
Some good articles about correct eating habits is included in the mag.
One thing that was mentioned is stopping drinks in a can-i can attest to that-when I landed in Kuwait 5 years ago I for some reason stopped drinking colas of any sort due to the heat i drank water-when i went for a eye test two years later my eye sight had improved a little (dont know if that contributed but i still dont drink it (opps -yes i have rum and cokes when i go on vacation sometimes-heheh)
Thats about it folks-stay safe whitewolf (el lobo blanco)
