Hi Noload

How are you trying to do this?  Are you long range dueling where there is lots of movement and then trying to do the tactic?  If so, it probably won't work in that context?  There are three specific scenarios that come to mind where this will work:

1) From an interview structure where the bad guy is palming the knife against his right thigh while indexing you with his left hand.

2) From a CQC attack from him where he has his left forearm across your chest (maybe grabbing your shirt) and holding you off from moving straight in while stabbing you with his right hand.

3) From a fighting stance where your opponent has no movement- he is virtually a statue.  Believe it or not, this is quite common, even with semi-trained guys.

Give it a try and see if this helps you.  Remember, going up against a trained knife fighter is crazy, look for the escape first.  If you are not successful look for the equalizer- bounce a garbage can off his face and then try your counter.

In this case he didn't fit into any of those three scenarios. He was trying to end it all within three seconds. But I will try it again next week against one of the semi-trained guys who is more likely to make a mistake.

Heck Joe, even if I'm going to run I'll find something to throw in his face, it's just how I've been trained. We play in the woods a lot which has lots of stuff around so at this point I naturally grab what ever is within reach to toss in the other guys face. ;D
