Segal, an actor and martial arts expert with a seventh-degree black belt in aikido, has been working as a fully commissioned deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana for the past 20 years. In addition to going out on patrol, Seagal is said to be an expert marksman who has worked with the Jefferson Parish SWAT team and has instructed officers in firearms and hand-to-hand combat.

My prediction: Seagal will be Jim Wagner Number 2

How about that.

I have a picture of him with that LA. police group in an old blog. AND..that photo was somehow embedded into the page and it could not be nicked or extracted out by viewers. That page was HEAVILY hit on and I received a lot of requests to send them a jpeg of that picture. Fans from fan clubs.

Years back I knew people that knew him and they went shooting with Steven a lot. Word is a really, good gun man.

But a series like....this? I more expected Dancing with the Ex-Stars.

*yawn*

I'm glad Seagal has found honest work.

I wonder what the LEOs that'll have to work with him will have to say when its all over.

A great episode would be him arresting Danny Bonaduce and Dennis Rodman at Mardis Gras.

A better reality show would be a version of cops with Steve and Uncle Ted. Kind of like a real life Starsky and Hutch.

I like Seagal.
I hope it works out for him.

I Do Hope that he does not go down the same route as Wagner, lol.
They do share time in Costa Mesa California.
Seagal does hint at work with the CIA
He says he was a bodyguard for Desmond Tutu in South Africa
Seagal has his own signature knife series
His Own Energy drinks
He was even given an HONORARY Badge by the US Customs Department, which he then tried to use to Board a Plane while carrying a Firearm and was detained and it had to be explained the Badge was Not Real.
(much like Elvis and his DEA Badge from Nixon)

Seagal does like shooting but I do not know if he would use Force or Violence to do the Job as a Police Officer as He has ,for the last 10 years, become a monk of sorts, who believes he has reached a level religious awareness and he does not believe in Violence or physicality in Real life.(along the same lines as Ueshiba of Aikido)
He has also been recognized, probably due to donations,by the Tibetan Monks as a Reincarnated spirit.

I would watch it to see what actually happens with him on the job, much like watching Gary Coleman and Eric Estrada in the Reality TV cop show they did,or watching Shaquille O'Neil as a Police Officer doing the job.

Good Luck to him.

When my Jujutsu sensei came into class and told us to go see Above the Law and to watch for certain techniques I figured the guy had to be something special. Seagal has done stuff in the movies and on the mat that I just love, and then done things that make me wonder.

I always liked his movies, a little hokey, but I liked the "moves" in them much better than the typical Van Damme flick. Interesting that he is working as a Deputy, but I would imagine it is as a reserve officer.

Think of the irony.
Sometimes cops become TV or movie actors.
Who else went backwards?
Funny!

Chuck Norris became a reserve in Texas, east of Dallas.
No show though.

Just watched it.  Overall it is not any better than an episode of cops.  The Steven Seagal aspect makes it a little more interesting but not much.  Everything he says is referencing his mastery of Aikido.  There is a lot of editing. I can’t help but notice that Seagal is the only one wearing a vest outside his uniform.  It is pretty clear that Seagal is on a glorified ride along.

Play the game.

Buy the merchandise.

That's because he can't get the vest under his shirt
