Frank Dux...Bubbling to the surface?
« on: November 28, 2008, 11:29:29 AM »

I hear that Dux is bubbling his old storyline to the surface.

Anyone here know about him?
Whats he up to?
What he may or may not have lied about?

I went to the internet and read about this guy-their sure is a lot of information he puts out about himself-dont know what is true or false- It says he was a marine (what else)
He must be in his 50,s by now-right?
Couldnt see where he in the martial arts now or not.

I know its not a very popular site with some on here, but check out bullshido, if I remember right, someone on there did a big investigation about Dux and his back ground.  It was a pretty good read.

I spent some time recently looking into this. According to Frank Dux he did contract work for the CIA, he never claimed to be a CIA Agent. As far as him being a fake regarding the military he was a Marine and I have not seen him claiming any ranks or awards that are not listed in his FOIA papers. If anyone has any solid evidence that he has claimed rank or awards he did not earn as a Marine I would like to see it. You con contact me privately or post the evidence here in public.

There were multiple radio interviews conducted with Frank Dux by Bob Carson over the summer. This includes interviews with Bullshido Staff Samuel Browning and Chuck Hardin.

Years back...not that many...9 years? G. Gordon Liddy made the mistake of having Dux on his radio show about a new Dux non-fiction book. The book had Dux doing some James Bond job, chasing a nuke or some bio-terror weapon back in 1990s.

The book was as fantastical as any Marchinko novel.

The claims made in that book?

Gotta say, I loved Bloodsport as a kid! thought it was ubber cool. Back then I used to hang out with a kid that lived in Hong Kong for nine years. Secret fighting, walled city. Very exciting stuff!

In starting to read "Operation Dark Heart" I found a certain section at the beginning that seemded to fit in with things I have read about Frank Dux.

An interesting point which would connect some things under the Frank Dux Section.
Schaffer says that when he was recruited /joined the CIA he was instructed that members were required to join a branch of the Military as a Reservist and qualify with a Military Intelligence MOS.
The need to be able to be activated into uniform was an important point of the Agency recruitment/membership.

Dux was a USMC Reservist and was qualified under the 0200 Basic Intelligence MOS.
Now that does nort mean he was a contractor under the CIA but it is a piece that fits a Pattern used by the CIA.

Well, as there are many world champions of the same thing, just different organizations, I think the same to be true about the kumite and Dux.
I had two of my first instructors that where both members of the Black Dragon Society and one was asked to be a judge at the kumite. Remember seeing the letter and his membership cards. I was young and aquated this to Bloodsport. Latter in years, about three ago I got bored and started doing some fishing around. Found that what he said was true, but it was The Black Dragon Society under the late Count Dante. I never heard of the man, but boy o boy , made for some interesting reading. But anyway I'm sure that there is more then one Kumite. Bet the UFC sort of put a damper on all that though.
In all, there is some crazy shit out there. So who knows.

Good grief. Went to Dante's web site of the Black Dragons Society just to refresh my memory and Dux is listed as one of the founders and instructors.

This brings up an interesting point. Some of the best instructors in my of my life have been associated with some of the weirdest people and bullshit systems, yet they are badasses and represent everything that is opposite of the people and systems they hang around. Guess its the yen-yang thing???

And for Hock: which seems out of place.

                       A. Count Dante
                       b. Ben Mangels
                       c. Ashida Kim

Remembering that in my beginning studies I was learning ninjitsu "80s craze", which was later changed to combat jujitsu and both my instructors were members of the black Dragon Society. One from the states and the other from South Africa, were there is a large Ashida kim school and the headquarters for Dante's society. Very strange world

O O O and for the kicker, my first system at age 14 was Chung Moo Quan. Taught by master John C. Kim "Master of all Asia" Try googleing that catastrophe. Took Mangels and the Plano police. to get me out of that mess. Only to have ties with Dante and Kim. My god Hock please don't wig out on me. Your the only sane instructor I have left.

You're also the only one who will put up with me!

Hang in there, man!

(Although, IMNSHO, sanity is a highly over-rated state of mind. A little craziness can be a good thing.)

I remember back in the 1980s-90s looking through the Yellow Pages every time I went on vacation to see if there were any martial arts supply stores.  Almost every large ad for a school was for a school run by a "world champion." :D

There could be many reasons.  They might be drinking buddies, they might think the association could help them, they might want more ranks/certifications, they might for some reason think the flakes are actually good, they might have bought a fraud's stories, etc.  It is not unusual for skilled instructors who should know much better to associate with unskilled flakes and even act as if the flakes are far superior to them.

I've seen it happen with people I know, one even joined up with Ashida Kim and a few bought into Jeff Prather's "Warriorship" program.

Above I asked if anyone knew the dates of the supposed Kumite in Jamaica ?
I asked as Mr Dux went active for Training as a USMC Recruit and then for training as  0200 ,Basic Intelligence Operator, from April 1975 to November 1975,so that did not leave much time to train up,travel to ,compete in and supposedly win a Kumite /Blood Sport.

Mr Dux says that when he competed in the Kumite in 1975 in Nassau, Bahamas he won the Heavy Weight title and Irving Soto won the Middle weight title.
(in other stories Dux says the Kumite was in Jamaica)
Mr Soto says that he won 8 Open Kumite Championships 1973-1980.
According to Mr Soto all of his Open Kumite Championships were in Japan.
(the Open Kumite championships are open to all styles from around the world)

Frank is a Marine, if nothing else he deserves some credit for that. He joined at a time of conflict 75, even if he is not a Vietnam Vet and as far as I know he never claimed to be he joined, he served, he gets some credit with me for that. What I care about is fake medals, false POW claims, claiming rank one has not earned, Ranger, SF, Airborne, and other specialty claims that can be verified, that kind of stuff, not CIA agent or contractor stories.

Frank Dux may not be everyone's cup of tea but who is? At the gun show this weekend we had one guy that took himself a little to serious and it ended up loosing him some customers. The thing is around here people appreciate a good story and the details are just the spice. There aint much worse than plain old beans, and or a boring as hell story. In my culture being boring is one step below being broke as far as bad things go, impotence then death being the worst. That said Frank is not a boring guy, far from it.

As far as saying he is a Con Man I totally disagree with that. Where are the victims? If he is/was running a con game where are the people he conned? As far as I know he is a well known public figure with a large fan base. If he had done much of anything wrong we would more than likely all have the facts thrown in our face by his haters.

One of the most interesting revelations to come out of the interviews he did with Carson over the summer was how large a following he had in comparison to Bullshido.net. In fact Frank Dux ended up doing even more interviews and Bullshido staff was not asked to come back on, basically they don't have anything interesting to say. Frank on the other hand blew people away with fantastic interviews. After I was contacted because my name was dragged into the Bullshido mess I listened to all the interviews. Frank is a cool guy and Bloodsport? Loved it and still do.
