I never met him, but I used to train - back in the day - with a guy called Dave Lea who was pretty close to Lenny.  In fact, at one point, they were making a film about him and Dave was involved with fight scenes, stunts, etc.

Lenny was an old school gentleman gangster who was the head doorman for Stringfellows and the Hippodrome.  His biography is called the Governor, which was his nickname and is pretty entertaining.  He was essentially a prize fighter and brawler who was a force to be reckoned with.  Legend has it that in one fight he pulled a guy's eye out and then stomped on it right in front of the guy.  Is it real or is it Memorex?  You decide.

Joe,
Now that you mentioned this guy being the head Bouncer/doorman at Stringfellows London,it reminded me that I had met and talked with him a couple of times 20-25 years ago.
I knew him as just Lenny who worked at Stringfellows,he was friendly with a relative of my wife and also of a British Bodybuilder friend I had back then who was into doorman work.
This Lenny guy was a Nice guy I thought and had a good knowledge of many different arts.
When we spoke my wife's relative had been a Boxer/doorman/supposed Irish Gangster, her brother was into Kendo and Judo and I was into Taekwondo and hapkido and he,Lenny, was able to speak about usage of the different arts.

It sure is a small world
