XD(M) on the range
« on: July 13, 2009, 04:54:38 PM »

We are in our range week at the academy... All week at a range in Carrollton trying to shoot 2000 rounds...  I finally got to check out the XD(M) and how it feels.  I LOVE it.  Great feel, easy fixes when it jams or double feeds.  Breaks down in three moves for cleaning, beautiful.  Took me a little to get used to it but once I got sighted in and comfortable with the gun the groupings were pretty good.  I'd recommend one.

Night fire on Wednesday and shotgun on Thursday - ought to be a load of fun!

But it was:

Hot...hot on the range where the .40s and .45s fly... Where the rounds seldom turn or bounce off the berm and put a big dent in your day...

When I landed in DFW last night at 8:40 pm, it was 101 degrees.

Where is the shooting range in Carrollton?
Was that news to you?
We would have used it.
Whats the name of if?

Dallas pistol Club off of Beltline rd.

http://www.dallaspistolclub.com/

Carrollton, Addison, Coppell & Farmer's Branch use it as their range.  FM uses Grapevine, usually.

It must have been 115 degrees on that black top!  More today - whoohoo!

The trigger pull on the pistol surprised me - it led to some anticipation on my part - most of the time I could get past it but every time we started a new drill there was that curve.  Hopefully after 200 rounds I'll have a broader comfort level...

Wednesday is night shoot...mosquito food.

Hi, My first post on here.

Do you know if the XD(M) has the same trigger as the other XD's?  I have XD's in .45 and 45GAP, (45GAP I know but I could not pass up the deal), and I had some difficulty getting used to the trigger. I was used to the Glock NY trigger at 8lbs we are stuck with. After some range time I got used to it.  The XD is my day to day gun.  I felt the XD had a longer pull and longer trigger reset than I was used to.  I am need to get a XD(M) on the range, I have heard nothing but good about them.

The trigger reset is pretty long.  almost 2/3rds of the pull.  The range instructor was pretty surprised.  I think it has a rather heavy trigger pull, but I have nothing really to compare it to.  It will take some getting used to.  I have enjoyed firing it so far this week.  I'll see how it does at night fire.  But it will probably reflect on my abilities...! :P
