Looks REAL good.  Interesting concepts.  I may have to get a copy myself...

Just bought it.
Looked for used copies but I don't think there will be any.
Anyone smart enough to buy this book will probably keep it.
It looks to be a keeper.

This is one of those books that, if the information truly applies to you, you will buy it.

It is essentially two books... one quite short 'book' of newly published information and a second 'book' of exhaustive data on assassination statistics.

If the above information truly applies to you, you will appreciate it. If it does not, you will feel ripped off because the book is neither 'cool' or 'awesome'.

I purchased mine in advance of the publication date and, like Hock observed, I am smart enough to keep it.

Mike,
You answered the question that I was going to ask. I read the free samples online and it seemed more like common sense than new stuff. So what's in the book that's missing from the samples?
Being in the NOW is what my instructor has tried to drill into my head over the years with moderate success. Grin

As noload stated sampler emphsized "concentration" another word  for" now"- which is needed in any situation and is needed to be addressed when instructing safety procedures-i did like the article.

The reason that the book is a must-own/must-read, is because there is a chapter on being in the now, so to speak, which is not bad. Debecker will not hire guards over-addicted to caffeine/coffee, or cigarettes (or drugs obviously) because cravings are a distraction.  You must busy yourself searching for threats while on the job, since you have so little time to react.

The core of the first 187 pages is a drill done at differing distances with an assassin with a sim pistol, a target and a guard training to stop a shooter from 15 feet, 7 feet, and 2 feet away. The closer the better.

Sims, sims, sims. That part I like.

Hornswoggled by the old, misleading Bruce Siddle "Heart Rate means everything," now disproved idea, Debeaker even attaches a heart moniter onto the guard. Guess what, the guard registers a heart spike when the assassin pulls the gun. Science at work! Probably the same spike as when the guard climbs a flight of stairs. Medical and performance experts have proven that the heart rate is a by-product result of an event, not the critical, center piece of which dictates any and all perfomance.

Grossman still talks about Siddle, heart rate and Hick's Law too, and that is why I don't think Debecker "gets out much" when preparing for these new books.
