I wouldn't worry about it too much. Much of the violent crime in the UK is between people who make bad life choices, i.e. gang on gang etc. Or people in abusive relationships.

If you are lucky enough to live in a decent part of town and use common sense the chances of you being involved are minimal indeed.

I have worked in and around Manchester. This is another recognised "gun capital" of Britain but, again, it is mainly gang on gang.
