Knife practice

What would be a good fighting knife either fixed blade or tactical folder to own and to practice knife fighting with?

It all comes down to money, if you want the best its not going to be free. There are hundreds of considerations you can make as far as function, reliability, and style. A good steak knife can be just as deadly as 2,000 Dollar custom Blade made by a Master Bladesmith but so can a Saturday Night Special if you get a lucky shot and it happens to fire when you pull the trigger.

If I only had a limited budget I would think Hocks new Knife Book with budget folder would be a good kit. For the folder I found this deal with AG Russell awhile back and it might suit you up if your concerned about price, you can check it out for yourself. If you have any questions about the knife just ask and I will try to answer them for you.

  Like I was saying, it all comes down to budget. My Jungle Bowie does not look fancy and its designed to look like that as the fancy is in its design, making, and materials. You can buy into the hype of many of the tactical makers selling cool brands and t-shirts or you can concentrate on serious quality no matter what you budget is.

A period peice. Stylish but efficient design.

  I just saw some pictures of a new Titanium Folder that AG is fixing to release, it looks to be a real winner. Will try to get some better pictures and link them in.

I like too!  A quick suggestion, I would try to make sure you had a folder and a full tang double edger about 4-6" long.  A lot of solo practice, post work, etc  will takes it toll on a folder, so keep that in hand whilst you destroy the target with a full tanger.  No brittle metals, so go with easy sharpening metal somewhere in the carbon 1055 range. 

And get yourself a rubber training knife, a training folder knife, and some eye protection so you can attack your buddies at will. 

And keep an old steak knife in the boot for the alleyways, and be ready to stash it away in a curb cut out drain.

a Good Fighting Knife in My opinion should be ideal for stabbing. i like Spear-point Knives, Clip-point Knives, or daggers. they make stabbing easier. which is a huge plus for fighting

I've seen some very reasonably priced Spyderco trainers on Ebay lately. While not as cheap as some other trainers, they were meant to be identical to live blades that Spyderco makes. Same FRN handles, pocket clips, locking mechanisms, etc.
