Well, today, I put about 100 rounds through a Springfield XDM at the range. And well, I have to admit, I am not that impressed. I would rather shoot my old duty classic .45.

To me, it looks better than it feels, or doesn't feel as good as it looks.
It shot well and delivered me up some long range bulls-eyes. Nothing wrong with it at all.
I guess I just expected more. Don't let me dissuade you from trying the gun. It is just my opinion. It has many, MANY cool attributes. And is a fine weapon. But I won't be buying one.

I also put about 50 rounds through a Walther 9mm.

Nice gun. Does feel good in the hand. When I was north of Berlin, Germany last October doing that 250 police officer training gig up there, I noted that many European agencies carry these Walthers and the pistol felt real good in the hand. But I could not shoot one while there as I did no range duty, just simulated ammo stuff indoors. But I started admiring the handgun. Finally got my hands on one today. Like it. Won't buy one. But I like it.

I haven't shot the XDM, but I've carried one of the original XD-40s for ages. It's been good to me. I like that it has the same grip angle as a 1911, has a double-stack mag, fits my hand nicely, and has a mag release that I can actuate with the middle finger of my gun hand.

I always figured Hock for a James Bond-type rig when doing undercover or EP work, but a 1911 while on uniformed patrol.

Keith Miller has been kidding me for years to change my name from Walter to Walther.
For a business joke...but I am just NOT that cool. Lots of people think Hock is actually "Hawk"
Sorry, once again, just NOT that cool.

Walther Hawk Hawkheim- then I'd have to get rid of the pesky "heim" part...ok lets see..."heim" means home in German...WAIT! Nest! Walther Hawk Hawknest!  Oh hell, why not just re-invent myself completely then and become a pro golfer...

(when my son was abut 6 years old, he told me he wated to change his name to "Doberman Pincher Bulldozer." 6 years old and he's thinking about that?)
