Wrong question.

What will the market pay?  What will the market handle?

(in other way:  What are you (the teacher) worth to the market?)

I live in a potential market 50-60 K strong not counting the infirm or those too young.  It is a State Capitol with a large National Guard base many of whom are on rotaion to the Middle East.  Many State and Federa Law Enforcement Agencies have headquarters here.  And I'v had inquiries but no one seems to get this kind of training in their budget.   Also contrary to National FBI "statistics" violent crime never declined here and in fact is on the upswing.  So how come I can't get $25.00/day out of these folks for training that could wind up saving their lives?

Because it's too cheap. Raise your price, and see if you get more bites. Price is a funny thing.

Number 1 thing to remember: you have to believe that you are worth the cost. If someone asks you how much...and you apologeticly say "Well...Ummm...it's $100." Then they will not pay it. On the other hand, if you are firm with your fees, and state with confidence the price...you are over half way there to selling the product.

Don't make apologies for your prices. If the people you are trying to reach won't pay $25 per day...the chances are very high that they will not be long-term repeat customers anyway. Look for other customers instead.

Also...never do anything for free! You might think that you are going to get referrals because you are a great guy for doing so. Reality is this. Doing things for free only gets you more customers that want things for free. Free things have no perceived value attached to them. A slight discount, however, goes a long way.

But that's just my 6.5 cents (valued much more than 2 cents) worth.
