My Gun Is My Passport

"The early 1900s. In a time just after the American gunfighter, and just before the noir detective, men with a certain experience were called upon to solve difficult problems. Men like Johan Gunther, former military officer, ex-Texas lawman, and owner of special firm called Remedies in Ft Worth, Texas.
Having served under Teddy Roosevelt in San Juan, President Roosevelt calls upon his former Lieutenant to accompany a US and British Army expedition in faraway Afghanistan to find a missing Colonel. This Colonel was involved with the Russians in the “Great Game” of turning Afghanistan into a pivotal point in a land grab of all the riches of the Asian
continent and creating seaport passages for the “new gold” that powers the new tanks and great new battleships - oil.
Join Gunther has he tracks renegade Indians in Montana and then battles foreign spies, vicious bloodthirsty tribesman and political madmen as he journeys across the Atlantic, through the straits of Gibraltar, into India and up the Khyber Pass for a climatic battle at a fortress atop the world."

Can't wait to read it! Might even make the wife buy a Kindle version today so I can start before the hardcopy arrives.

Any chance of the paperbacks being signed?

Edit: Well, whadda ya know? I just bought a copy and sent it to my wife's kindle. Getting the kindle from her to read it? That's another story.

There is a great line in the first chapter about a feather falling...I can't do it justice, but great stuff!

Keith...get this...it is so funny you should even mention that feather line. Not one but TWO book editors wanted those feather lines GONE. This is so typical of the book industry today and the gate-keeping, dribbling slobs in charge from top to bottom.

I said no. I know cool when I see it..(or write it) and demanded it stay.
So, it makes me feel really good and very justified that you even noticed that!

I have learned that when certain experts don't like parts? I need to keep them. And when certain editors do not like the book, that is actually a really good sign. There is one editor I deal with that when he dislikes my books, I am so relieved.

Someone wanted to ditch the feather bit? Frick, that was a nice piece of writing. Liked it the very first time I read it.

I finished it this past weekend.

What an incredible story! A Heart of Darkness type thriller full of lots of Cowboy Action moments. It really was a breath of fresh air compared to what I have been reading recently.

I can't wait for more adventures of Johann Gunther.

Hock, might there be some stories featuring "The Star of Africa" in the works?

Inside this story, she dies, or at least loses that diamond tooth when the Koklanare tribe raid their little mountain side city in the Kyber Pass, butcher everyone and cut off their feet for proof for profit. She is a mix between Angelina Jolie and Beyonce. That's a a win, and a win. Add Vanessa Williams in that mix. I have an idea about this but who knows if the series will progress to the point where I would be able to re-introduce her...

But the British diplomat Mr Hall? He joins the first "MI6" in England and there are numerous possibilities with him. He will appear again to help Gunther in future adventures.

It would be fun to see what happens to Mr. Hall!

I was thinking it would be interesting to read about the Star of Africa before she met Gunther. Sort of a Origins type story.
