So here is what I wonder.

The groin kick, the classic front snap kick is illegal, so it is not practiced, not in muscle memory. Seeing it, dealing with it is not a practiced, rehearsed routine.

Do you think this was kind of an accident? Or did Silva really plan throwing the kick to the head. Despite the secret-Seagal-hype kick and all that...really....

Was it genius or an accident?

(anyway, great kick)

Good question- looking at the vidio it shows how siva went from moving around to arm movements and some tangling then it apears that he shoots that leg-could have been
practised while in training-i dont remember him doing that before in some of the fights i watched-but it looks like he was actually aiming for that area as the foot is pretty high.

I think the lesson on this one is expect the unexpected.
Everybody always says ' anything can happen in a fight and it normally doe's ! '.
In this case it did, watch Vitor's face and eye level before the kick he was head hunting, looking for a shot and not thinking about one coming in.
Class kick. Up there with Pat Smith's k.o at Saboki Challenge. I saw John ' The White Bear ' Silver k.o Lee Remedio's at London Cage Rage Fighting, but sadly dew to a technical fault it was not captured on film. It was a long looping right leg Caperioa back kick to the head that instantly k.o'd Lee. His body went stiff as a board and he landed horizontally on his right side. I'd always doubted the effectiveness of flashy Caperioa kicks but this one was 100% on target and with power. The place exploded with a mad roar from the crowd. A great night ! Silver then went onto Pride in Japan and got whipped by Genki Sudo.
