This is going to continue until we as men and as a nation figure out that being sensitive doesn't make us any less tough. I've heard all I care to about "You're grandpa and your dad didn't cry when blah blah blah". I'm not ashamed to admit that I've cried, and I'm not afraid to go out into situations that are probably going to make me cry again. The people who write this stuff about manliness, in my opinion, don't know anything more about it than the staff writers for magazines like Cosmopolitan or Maxim.
What's really hurting us as a nation and as men is the complete lack of balance between what is considered masculine and what is considered feminine. Very few people these days have to struggle, or are willing to struggle, to overcome adversity, and so they have little to no concept of what strength really is. You see it in schools, in martial arts, in sports, colleges, malls, and gyms.
What makes me a man is not the fact that I have a penis and two testicles. It's the fact that I have that equipment, a lot of testosterone, and I'm not afraid to do what I want to do and say what I want to say, regardless of whether or not it upsets someone.
You want to be a man, then do what you like to do, exercise regularly to include lifting weights, don't make excuses, and speak the truth at all times.
