Check this knife out!

One of my students bought this knife 20 yrs ago. Have not seen one like it before.
Sorry for no picture as I do not know how to get the emailed photo on to here. ???

 





Ballistic Knife (Russia)


The whole knife leaves the handle when the trigger is depressed. I wish I new how many feet per second it shoots but it shoots hard. I have never seen another like it except in the movie Commando, Arnold shoots one. I think it is in the part where he get stuck in the shed. he come out and fires the knife into the bad guys chest.

This unit is ( or was) Russian issue. "Firepower" magazine had an article about it back in the 80's.
At one time you could purchase them through various gun and knife mags that were out back then. The knife and handle can still be had.You just cant get them with the spring anymore.
The spring was banned. So if you can find one with the spring you've got a real collectors item. If you have to break the law,just about any heavy duty spring can be used.
