I started with Vu in 1986 until about 1992 when...

Even in the 1980s that video was hard to come by.
I think it was his first video ever. Pretty sure.
I have it. It was quickly refered to as "the basement tapes," and was hard to get.

But most of the tape time was his guys (a number of them I knew) working with the assigend drill.
Still it was a very cool...first.

Now THAT was a clip worth watching.  I've always been amazed by his fluidity and speed.  I have a bunch of his tapes still, and I pick tidbits from them here and there.  I think I've progressed in my training and my understanding of what a fight is beyond Vunak's sometimes simplistic approach, but PFS was my entry into all of these different drills.

And all those head butts....jeez!

I know for fact, a number of PFS folks went down doing headbutts. Some very top names. AHem. Head butts can work way too well at times. But they are fun and cool looking to mimic!

I spent some time at Vu's very messy house in the early 90s training privately.

He had a Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame award that had various pieces of clothing draped over it, and his Cockatoo used it as a perch. Pooped all over it. He would put that very expensive bird in the back yard...like you would a cat or dog. it would just sit on the fence and watch us through the window, eating bugs.

Very strange place. But fun.

Doesnt Paul use the drums to get the students into some type rythem while practising a movement-so they will have timing? Whatever reason it adds to the training... WW
