Four training knives for about two bucks.
« on: June 29, 2011, 12:11:04 AM »

I dunno if this has been posted here before or if it's just so simple that I was the last guy on earth to figure this out, but I picked up a nifty little "cheap training knife" morsel from the Spyderco boards.

1. buy a cheap pair of flip-flops (sandals, Thongs, whatever you call them. I got black, but you could go pink and rainbows if that's your bag)
2. pull the straps off
3. cut in half lengthwise, or trace the knife you wish to emulate onto the sole and cut it out.
4. There ya go!

I'm cord wrapping handles on a couple of them just for giggles. Total cost for each one is about .53 cents, and I won't cry if they get lost. Not a replacement for hard trainers, but kinda fun for practicing the fast half-beat insertions on Hubud.

great idea for shits and grins!
