Further violence has broken out between police and groups of young people in Hackney

Cars have been set on fire in Lewisham, while a bus and shop have been set ablaze in Peckham
Shop windows have been smashed and looting has also taken place in Birmingham

Home Secretary Theresa May has condemned the riots as "sheer criminality"

Acting Met Police Commissioner Tim Godwin has said the force will be publishing photos and CCTV footage of those involved

At least 215 people have been arrested and 25 charged so far in relation to the three days of violence

Worst night of violence in London I've seen in my whole life of living there. Kids tried to set a petrol station on fire opposite from me. I called the Police, but they had no-one to send. Watch BBC News footage, Croydon, Enfield, especially badly affected also outside London in Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham.
Every area of London affected by the violence. Last night was a living nightmare.

Stay safe over there.    Hate to see this happening - hate even worse that the government knew that it was unprepared for an outbreak of violence.    Keep yourself alive and well.    Sitrep are needed along with AAR.   

This can be a good learning experience for us in the states.  This type of violence is heading our way - soon!

Thanks to everyone for kind words and support. The rioting was right on my doorstep. Neighbour took refuge in my flat. Kids tried to torch local garage 20 meters from me, but were chased off by Muslim's with knifes. I'm involved with the clear up operation, making sure my work place a local community centre is safe. We set up a safe zone around the centre and many locals stayed with us. Brilliant help and support from local Police, words can't express how brilliant they where.

Things are calmer now, we'll see how the weekend pan's out. I'm concerned that UK school's might be a target as all the kids here are on holiday ( a factor in the rioting ) and may wish to prolong the summer by burning down their school's. It's happened before.

What we have witnessed here, but not covered by the media in any detail was the spontaneous outpouring of civic duty, tens of thousands were involved in the clean up operation. Holding brooms in the air as a symbol of unity and strength. Local groups have now been set up to help the victims and create opportunity's for young people in training and support. Londoners have shown their real strength in a quiet and determined way. Proud to be one of them.

In progress at the moment. This weekend is looking like more trouble on the streets however. Police are going to be very thin on the ground in London as the main body of cops is going to be Policing The Notting Hill Carnival. Not a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket.

Further out breaks of violence, Police petrol bombed while on routine patrol in Enfield ( North London ) 24/8/2011. 20,000 Police set to cover Notting Hill Carnival this weekend. Media debate to change the name of the Police back to Police force and not as current Police Service. It's the Long three day weekend as well so many extra people on the street's during the weekend.
