When I went to the mandatory class for my CHP the instructor made sure we knew about repriocity and where we could not carry. We were also told to check before traveling as laws can change.
Awhile back a bodyguard for Rosie O'Donnel was thrown in the city lockup for carrying at JFK which is on city soil. And he even had the thing in a locked case. NY state is strict but NYC is really strict with I think a mandatory one year stay in the city slammer for carrying.

NYC has an "as issued" permit that is given out by the police commissioner. I've had mine for over 20 years. Helped a great deal to have numerous connections ( Dad) in law enforcement.
I have a NY State permit also, and those vary from county to county. The whole system in NY state is a giant cluster daisy chain.
