Killer Elite
« on: March 12, 2012, 05:08:02 PM »

So, I saw this movie. On a plane  because I wasn't motivated to see it in theaters or even on DVD. I watched it and really liked it. I don't think the movie ads and trailer really captured what the movie is really about. It is more of a thriller than an action flick, and really a deeper story about the retired British SAS and the 'Featherman,"- a group retirees who look after retired SAS. Based on a true story? Kinda? Sorta?

The film was way more intriguing than the trailer suggested. I am not much of a fan of Jason Statham. He is just way too one-dimensional for me (compare him to Russell Crowe for one moment and see what I mean). Jason grunts and runs through the story enough to pass. Clive is quite good.

In a strange way it ends up like an abstract, modernized Good, Bad and Ugly. Jasin in Clint. Deniro is Tuco and Clive is Lee Van Cleef.

The better Brit action flick, is '' The Veteran '', 2011 film. Starring Toby Kebbell and Brian Cox. Ex-Para return's to South London, face's the gun happy local drug dealers who are linked to a wider plot. You get shady intelligence services, Kosovan arm's dealers, Strippers, Brutal Chechen minders, AQ cell's, some realistic street fight scenes and some nice gun play, a tale of double cross with a kick-ass ending. Best of all you can see my flat in the background when he run's up the stairs near the start. Top film.

I enjoyed the Killer Elite. Thanks for the tip Webby on the Veteran, I will look for it. I just returned from a visit to London so it should be interesting to see what I recognise.

Sorry I'll try that again, it stars Neil Maskell and MyAnna Buring. Two hit men on a ' kill list '. Something's off from the start and it's not just the guy's rocky marriage. It get's very dark, violent. Bizarre. It's unforgetable

I tried watching this.  It's kind of on the same level as Ronin, I think.  i was bored.  It's got some interesting bits, but not quite what I was looking for in an action movie.  It should have been marketed as suspense, I think.  Yawn.

Kentbob,
You being a Superhero in your own right, it's no wonder you were bored.
You should start taking up alligator hunting with just a bowie knife on weekends, and body flying every other Wednesday just to even things up a bit!
