Have you ever read the NYPD SOP-9 it is a summary of all the police shootings in a given year, it includes all the deatails and facts of the shootings. What this report has found every year is that range score have absolutely NOTHING to do with actual shootout results.
There have been 210 shooters who both won and lost gunfights the winners took cover first then fired back the losers didn't use cover, conversely 300 shooters the ones that won took cover the ones who stood in the open usually lost. The NYPD has an excellent record surviving deadly force encounter since their training was changed to emphasize strictly sighted fire at all distances, watch the front sight pull thru the trigger.
I believe awareness and tactics are more important than marksmanship skills and the NYPD and other agencies have proven this repeatedly.
