AWESOME!
I can honestly say I was impressed.
Great Drills!
Great Insight!
I'm going to spring this material on my guys Tuesday night.
Let the games begin.

Oh and by the way I love what you've done with your hair.

Jim,
You're right. It's some good stuff. He reminds me of Bert Poe. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Vegas.

I also thought that I would say that I have seen Nick Hughes #3 and #5 DVD I have been using it for a while now I think that he really knows his matrial.  One of my favorites in #3 is the bite series.  Before seeing that I never knew that kind of technique in biting.  He also made some wonderful points on judo not sport judo the real judo such as the throws don't ever under estimate it.  Thank you Nick for such a wonderful series.  Sorrry about your contract.  I read the whole e-mail and I know that you made the right price sorry that they didn't see that it was the best offer.

P.S.  Look forward to training with you sometime.

I really want to get us all together in a central location. Krystek, Tackett, McCann, Halleck, etc... et al... next year.

Maybe Dallas. (Nick hates Texas, he thinks its too big!) Or Kansas City or Chicago...Somewhere and have a tag team seminar...

I am working on it....

If someone wants to bring me up...I'm there.  Closest I'm getting is Columbia Maryland on the 11th & 12th of this month i.e. not this weekend but the next.  How far is that for you to get to?

Nick

PS:  Hey Hock, maybe we should take the show on the road a la Dilman, Presas, Jay.  We could do one in Kansas, one in Florida, one in Texas and one on the West Coast.  I bet we'd get more people ultimately attending doing it that way.

Aprox. 300 miles from the city, but I sometimes work weekends!!! If I could make it i have to get permission from my BOSS ( WIFE!!!) If I was still single hell, i would of been going to Thailand to train Muay Thai, going to Brazil to grapple with the hot girls on the beach or go to England to train with some of the best H2H combat instructors in the world LOL. But there's some disease you get when you get married that makes you lazy and put a gut on, I am desprately looking for the cure LOL.

Well...we all know that there is only one place on the west coast with enough class to handle such an event.  8)

Just got a chance to view Nick's vids 2 - 5 (6 is today).

One thing to say - OUTSTANDING

Nick is articulate, serious and straight to the point.  No fluff, people.  Nothing we haven't seen before BUT his intelligent explanations and reasoning make the DVDs a MUST have for all SFC members libraries.

There is so much (using Nick's eloquent terminiology ;D) shite out there that is refreshing to watch material where the instructor can talk in a complete sentence without using You Guys, You Know, Uh, Now! and other words that get in the way of the instruction because the person can't speak properly or is unprepared.  Nick gives situations and then addresses them in a systematic and intelligent manner.  Mainly centered around military situations but also addressing civilian, bodyguard, police and security scenarios as well.  His assistants are tough and well trained.  Nicks demostrations bely his depth and width of skill while at the same time not deviating from his topic with unrelated fluff.

I also like his brilliant tie-ins with the traditional martial arts and his knowledge of its history (particularly the Judo segment and the rifle applications).  For the many of us who come from the old school, Nick shows the fallacies and facts of the modern applications of Traditional Martial Arts.  The multiple attacker section is a vindication of TMA as a legitimate modern training system.  the problem is finding one such as Nick to explain the usage.

Well done, Nick!

Gotta agree... 2 thumbs up...

After Jimbo gave it the glowing review, I ordered the whole set... I skimmed em all thru once, but am now taking more time and watching them again. They are a great addition to my library.

Very clear & articulate instruction, and great drills.. You can learn alot about a teacher by watching his students.. Nick's guys are all tough, and show a good understanding of the material he teaches.

You can tell Nick has been there both in the TMA and combatives by his examples, demonstrations, and understanding of technique and application.

Nick kinda reminds me of BIG, bad ass Sean Connery..

Job well done Mr Hughes...!!

Is all this talk building up to...

Nick Hughes
Jim McCann
Marc Hallack
Tim Tackett
Little ol' me

in Carrollton, TX
January 12, 13, 14, 2007?

This will cost me and Rawhide a small fortune and lots of hard time to amass these boys. If we build it? Will you come? (Texas is nice and warm in January-usually)
Airline tickets and hotels alone will be high and therefore the door price will reflect these expenses. Three days could be $350-ish.

This proposal will be repeated in another general thread so it is not lost at the bottom of this one.

Hock

"Nick kinda reminds me of BIG, bad ass Sean Connery..."

NOT the first time that has been said, by the way.
