Title: abdomen protection
Post by: juszczec on July 14, 2008, 12:23:02 PM
Hi folks

I have a problem.  The dr says I have a cyst below one of my ribs.  She says not to get smacked there because it could delay the cyst going away or rupture it (pain+chance of infection).

My guys are going to razz me something fierce, but I think I need a pad to protect the area.    The area is the soft stuff between the end of my rib cage/beginning of my pelvis.

Any suggestions?

Mark

I'd get a second opinion mate.  I've got about 25 of them all over (the only one that bothers me is the one over my kidney) and have had them for years.  Dr told me don't worry about them.

I second Nick=always get a second opinion on anything these days=remember lots of doctors graduate from med school BUT the deploma dont tell you they graduated last in a class of 100-heheheh and they may  have graduated from Dr Loves class of bow legged apes ;D ;D

Now that I think about it, its possible the dr was joking when she said "don't get hit there"

I asked about cysts being caused by trauma - I got whacked by a stick in a gap of my body armor during a self defense seminar I did in April.

Anyway, I trust my dr.

I guess I've gotten a little freaked out.  I've done some reading about all the soft stuff that lives in your lower abdomen and have started to wonder if extra protection would just be common sense.

if you need light weight protection while sparring. i suggest football under armor shirts. it provides i nice thin pad accross your ribs.
