You have to see the kick at the end of this video.

I say "amazing" because it was an interesting moment and event.

The kick itself is nothing more than high, front thrust kick, found in Thai, MMA and numerous fighting systems. It's just this particular kicker can do this with amazing speed and ease.

The kickee saw another high knife slash coming at his head and pulled his head and upper body back. The kicker (a superb athlete as well as a BIG guy) saw this and thust kick the guy about throat high, catching him off balance.

It was just interesting to see. I hear some Hiltons elsewhere are over-analyzing the word "amazing" I used?  It didn't cure cancer or shouldn't challenge the hard core "never kick above the waist" militant group. It was an interesting moment in a meet. That's all. It's just entertaining and cool to look at.

(and if you knew this kicker, you'd let him kick anywhere he wanted in the proverbial street fight. He could "pull that off" and more.)

He landed it square.  It was so good that he kinda stopped the attack, or paused instead of moving in, removing the weapon, and finishing up.  Looks like it took by surprise also.
Surprise!

it appears that he has practised that particular one before-it worked so lets get on with it-u always will have some dribble head complain about a tactic but if he was on the receiving end he would be thinking a little differently.

I have a news photo of a isreali solder using his foot in same manner and he is striking a
opponent who was near him-almost same exact movement-
it works-

Well, another point is...
- groups of low-line kickers need to kicked at by high-kickers sometimes. They need to see and recognize them, like baseball hitters need to see and practice against curve balls.

Definitely amazing. Not only to be able to pull it off but to have that effect.

The kicker must have spent a lot of time practicing and perfecting it.

Just like learning to defend against a jab or straight right. Least likely to occur in a fight, but still might happen. Train in a reverse engineering method....start with high probability and work your way back. That jab and high kick is still dangerous...learn to do it, and learn to defeat it.

Little more info on the picture- the soldier is one of a few tyring to keep settlers back-
he has rifle overone shoulder holding the sling-appears he is over six foot tall and the kick is landing with the sole at the chest high of the settler-might be a push type kick
he looks on balance also doing it
