Title: Green Eyes, Black Rifles
Post by: Kentbob on November 12, 2011, 09:35:29 AM
I just bought this book, "Green Eyes, Black Rifles" from Bravo Company USA.  So far it's an interesting read, and it has plenty of information about the design and construction of the AR-15/M-16 weapons platform.

And, while I'm on the subject, my own personal research in talking with people, studying the physics of the ballistics of the 5.56mm round, as well as learning about how the M-16/AR-15 is supposed to be employed has changed my opinon on the worth of the AR-15 as both a combat rifle and a rifle for personal defense.  Not only is the AR-15 a fast and accurate platform, but with the addition of a Picatinny or Weaver rail system, it can be adapted for use in almost any situation.

I still love the M-14, don't get me wrong.  I like it for it's simplicity as well as the range and accuracy.  But for CQM, I've become convinced that there isn't another rifle out there that can compete with a well made AR-15.
