Iv'e notice lately that a lot of the big name top dog custom knife makers are back to using 154 CM stainless steel for there knives.
Back in the mid 1980s this steel fell out of favore because once it is heat treated to hold it fantastic edge holding propertys it becomes very brittle!!

Just curious has there been a change in the heat treating process that allows the steel to hold it's edge retaing propertys with out becoming brittle??

I know that a lot of the knife magazines I used to read featured a lot of knives made from 154 cm.  I believe it is the new heat treating process, and possibly the forging process that has made it so popular again.  I can't remember, and I may be thinking of another steel.  I used to pay attention to all that stuf, a few years ago, but the information fell out of my head, just like a lot of other information has.
