McClemore-Made Bowie
« on: May 01, 2006, 06:05:57 AM »

This is from Mac this morning....

Everyone: FYI just in case some of you might be interested.  About 6 months ago I commisioned a custom made, hand forged Bowie knife from Tim Ridge of Swamp Fox knives. Tim makes some of the best knives in the business. What is really interesting  is 'The Look' they have.  They are roughly finished and seem to have come right off some country blacksmith's forge of the 18th/19th Century. This is a one-of-a-kind blade that I designed several years ago and in fact carved a wooden trainer along that same pattern. As always, it is a monster with a big wide 13 inch blade that probably looks more intimidating than it actually is. I've designed a lot of bowies but this will be the first one that I've actually taken from conception to end. Most of the others ended up as alluminum trainers that Bob Burgee of Edges2 mae for me. This ain't a plug to sell knives just to let you know that Ole Mac has finally achieved one of those dreams that we 'Knife-Guys' have.  Soon as Tim sends me a photo I will pass it on to you guys.  I guess there will be a McLemore Bowie now to pass on to my youngest, wild grandson.
My Best

The new issue of Tactical Knives has a great review on his latets book.
