Elephant charges 200 meters.  http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/09/03/siebel_elephant_attack/

Imagine that!

The guide fired at the elephant but missed.

The guide is in need of some serious target practice, or maybe a better rifle, as in semi-auto?

Which brings me to my second question...unarmed tactics against wildlife, what would work against small, medium, large, and giant animals?  Eye attacks probably?

The elephant charged from 200 Meters, and maybe they didn't bail out till the beast was right up on 'em!  If they dashed sooner, maybe they coulda not got stomped.  But I see little that would work on an elephant, unless you climbed on up somehow to get the eyejab.  Highly unlikely in my opinion, but i'm sure that there are some badass S.A. that's probably gave it a shot....
