Inosanto/Villabrille Numerada
« on: April 22, 2010, 02:22:41 AM »

This is really a question for Marc Halleck, but others please feel free to chime in a well.

Would you explain the basic concept of this style of Numerada in regard to the circular footwork that is used?

Numerada can get intense depending on the person feeding you. We almost always do numerada with stick and dagger and the idea is to always zone away from the other weapon, If the opponent feed an angle 1, i would gunting and start circling to his right to zone away from the knife, but you only want to go to the back of the shoulder, you are contimually striking, if you circle to far they can just turn with the knife,  when the stab comes i would gunting the knife hand and start beating on that arm as i circle to the left. We add kicks as well, sometimes when i dont have  a partner i circle a heavy bag. But the basic idea is to keep away from the other weapon and make the opponent come at you so you have enough time to see it,
did that answer your question? if not let me know and i will try to explain better

Yeah, that makes sense.  I saw some old seminar footage of Dan Inosanto teaching a particular footwork pattern (that he said was similar to Bagua) while teaching Numerada.  I have noticed that the Villabrille Numerada emphasises a lot more zoning than other Filipino systems I have seen doing similar drills.  There is really very little material out there in terms of DVDs teaching this method of Numerada.  Did you ever consider doing a theme DVD on Numerada to compliment your Sumbrada DVD?  Do you also do Numerada with multiple opponents?

Yeah Marc!
Numerado.
We should do that.
This information is slowly slipping away through time!

we could do one, i just dont know if i could fill a whole dvd on just that. I could put some atillo balintawak on it as well, what do you think?

Actually it is supposed to prepare you for multiple opponents, we will stand in the middle of a circle and people randomly attack, lots of fun
