Hammerfist targeting
« on: June 01, 2010, 11:42:44 PM »

Continuing on this

So for the knockout to happen we need amongst other things power and accuracy, so what is the best target when using a hammerfist? I know the neck is great when using the forearm but hammerfist to the head???

An important point on targets that never really gets discussed, especially in a pre-emptive situation, is that targets move!  Once when I was working a club on the Fulham Rd, I pre-emtively knocked a guy out with a short hit & retract hammerfist.  I was actually targeting the soft tissue area just below his left eye overlapping into a bit of nose, but he moved.  It happened so fast that I didn't see where I hit him, but it must have been right along the jaw line because it was a clean knock out.

Knock outs are great, but you can't build a fighting system around a knock out because of moving targets.

Hi Joe thanks for the reply, that makes a lot of sense I've never thought about it that way. I guess that then leaves only one more question.

Do you often use and teach the hammerfist as a preemptive strike?

It's just one tool out of the toolbox that I teach from.
