Wild Bunch SASS
« on: March 08, 2011, 07:10:40 PM »

The SASS - Single Action Shooting Society
http://www.sassnet.com/index.php

Has been around a few decades.  Shooting "cowboy pistols."

Well now, they have started a "Wild Bunch" competition category, you know - based on the movie. The historical time period here is not six shooters but 1900 to 1916 and the shooters must use .45s of that era style and shotguns of the 1897 model shotgun. In the spirit they must wear either an old military uniform or other clothes of the day, like the other shoots. The hand gun leather must be similar also. They do some of this mounted on running horses!

And I think they have a "Wild Bunch" category with more modern 45s and shotguns.
Anywho, here is their Wild Bunch rule book

Here's a video of the incredibly gifted and talented SASS shooter "Jasmine Jessie" Abbate demonstrating a kick-ass shotgun technique. This is just an excerpt of a great interview and demo from the Outdoor Channel's "Cowboys" shooting show. Not sure if this falls under Wild Bunch rules, but the video distracted me from that detail.

I highly doubt anyone will be disappointed.

And.
The Cowboy Fast Draw
http://www.cowboyfastdraw.com/

also has a film.
I think they use wax bullets, but they do not shoot at each other. Now THAT would be cool if they did.
