A new teacher
« on: September 29, 2011, 12:36:46 PM »

The other night I had to travel to northern Tn to pick up my wife who was flying in. I looked on the intrernet and found a martial arts school   called Fire and Water run by a David Collins-(its a christian Martial arts school)-i called him and he invited me to a class that evening.
We met at the door and sat and talked-He said he started the school 41 years ago-after retrurning from active duty as a member of the 5th SF group-he said he served in Vietnam and also went into laos on operations. His class was split up into 3 parts-Combat akido, self defense
and basics. We went over just 3 techniques-2 defenses from a knife and one with a pistol -all disarms-all i can say is they are simple strighforward
and they are wicked. He made a comment about modern MMA and the
army combatatives taught-all negative. After the class he showed me the downstairs- he has a ring set up (41 years old)-people who sparred with Rocky marciano and others trained here.. He said he has lots of Vets come by-quite a man-never once said anything about his past in the SF
Just thought I would put this out-there are a lot of guys out there who
teach the real thing-we just dont know about them.  WW

And they are the reason America is strong.
'Advanced' is being able to do the basics, despite what else is happening.

WW--he sounds like the real deal. What part of TN?
