Air guns to be licensed in Scotland.

"...air gun owners will need a licence under plans announced by the Scottish government. Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill launched a consultation on how the new licensing regime for air weapons will work.
Powers to legislate on air weapons were devolved to Holyrood under the Scotland Act 2012. It is estimated that up to half a million air guns in Scotland would need a licence under the proposals..."

And all we had to worry about is a ban on Bushmasters. If the toddle was killed by a blow to the head by a jar of Mayo, would they ban Mayo just jars?

Some places in the US are already like this. 

IIRC Illinois requires a license to buy airguns with 1000fps or higher.

I just checked, and it is 700fps.  They actually consider it a firearm.  I guess some people in Illinois don't know the difference between compressed air and a chemical explosion.  But then again they elected Obama to the Senate.
